Our Pastors & Staff
WES PASTOR, SENIOR MINISTER
Wes is the founder and senior minister of Christ Memorial. After graduating from Ohio State, he earned an MBA from Miami University, Ohio, then taught accounting at the college level. He began his pastoral studies in 1985 at Dallas Theological Seminary, ultimately receiving his MAR in Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1990. The following year, Wes, his wife, Sue, and their young family moved to Vermont with a vision for spreading the gospel by planting gospel-preaching churches. CMC was born of that vision, and Wes has been senior minister here from the start in 1992. Less than a decade later, Wes launched The NETS Institute for Church Planting (NETS), a church planter training center, where he continues to serve as president. In 2010 Wes earned an M.Th. in biblical theology from the University of Wales. Wes is an adjunct professor at Redeemer Theological Seminary and has taught classes at Westminster (Philadelphia) and Wales Evangelical School of Theology. Wes and Sue have raised five children, with the oldest two married and the youngest in high school. They keep busy ministering to the body at CMC and rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Greg Burton, Executive Pastor
Greg graduated from Nyack College with a degree in Christian education, then went on to direct an inner city youth mission in New Castle, Penn. After working in banking for a number of years, Greg founded Burton Cleaning, which he still owns. He has served as executive pastor of CMC since 2001. Greg and his wife of over 20 years, Beth, have four children from middle school to college age.
Craig Combs, Senior Associate Pastor
Upon graduating from Western Kentucky University, Craig spent eight years in full-time youth ministry, all the while earning M.A.R. and M.Div. degrees from Westminster Theological Seminary (where he is pursuing a D.Min.). For 13 years he served as senior pastor for congregations in Pennsylvania and Virginia. He moved to Vermont in 2003 to be part of NETS and helped plant Redeeming Grace Church in Georgia, Vermont. In addition to preaching at CMC and at our daughter churches, Craig serves as a preaching mentor for NETS. He and his wife, Betsy, have been married for over 20 years and have five children.

DEREK BASS, YOUTH PASTOR
Derek and his wife, Elizabeth, came to Vermont in 2007 as part of the NETS Residency Program. While their sights are ultimately set on planting a church in Rhode Island, Derek is currently putting his background in youth ministry to good work at CMC. He recently earned a Ph.D. from Southern Seminary, focusing on Old Testament Studies. Derek is an outdoorsman and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and University of Texas Longhorns! Besides loving and serving our youth, Derek and Elizabeth keep busy with their three young sons.
